Zinnia elegans

The party girls of the summer garden, flowering zinnias make vege gardens explode with life and love. A carnival of brightly coloured blooms, they cause mad delight amongst children, bees, butterflies and me. Require oodles of sunshine but return boodles of flowers for cutting through summer and autumn. This is a hard-to-find variety that delivers as much colour as a Mexican pinata.

Cover your zinnia seeds very lightly as they like a bit of light to germinate. Can be direct sown once the soil has warmed enough (ie when the runner beans make their dash). Keep them deadheaded for continuous flowering up to first frost. Resilient and resistant plants that are quick to flower (60 days).
